How we make money
Display advertising. We show ads served by Google AdSense. Google chooses which ads appear, and we do not choose or endorse specific advertisers. Ads are visually separate from our articles.
Affiliate links. At the moment, Gear & Road does not use affiliate links. If that changes, we will update this page and clearly mark affiliate links in our articles.
Sponsored content and products
- Any sponsored article, paid placement, or product we receive for free will be clearly labeled as such in the article itself.
- We do not currently accept products for testing.
- Receiving a product or payment never guarantees positive coverage.
Editorial independence
- Advertisers, affiliate partners, and manufacturers do not review, edit, or approve our articles before they are published.
- We do not accept payment to change a review, a ranking, or a recommendation.
- Our recommendations are based on published specifications, documented facts, and the needs of the rider we are writing for, and every article lists its sources.
This disclosure follows the spirit of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s guidance on endorsements: you should know when we have a financial relationship with a company we mention.
