We do not physically test products. Here is exactly how we research every buying guide on Gear and Road.
Step 1: Identify Products
We scan manufacturer announcements, professional reviews, and retailer bestseller lists to identify the most relevant products in each category.
Step 2: Verify Specs
For every product we feature, we visit the manufacturer’s official website and cross-check specifications: dimensions, weight, materials, certifications, and included accessories.
Step 3: Aggregate Reviews
We read professional reviews from Wirecutter, The Drive, Car and Driver, and other trusted outlets. We also cross-reference customer ratings across Amazon and major retailers, looking for patterns rather than outliers.
Step 4: Check Prices
Prices are verified on Amazon within 48 hours of publication. They may change. We note the verification date in every article.
What We Don’t Do
- We don’t physically test products
- We don’t accept payment for placement
- We don’t let affiliate commissions influence our picks
- We don’t use AI-generated claims without verification
